The Chanters Mens Chorus sings for various Masonic and Shrine functions, as well as performing in concerts, at churches, retirement homes, parties, charitable functions, weddings, funerals and other programs. Each summer, the Chanters compete at the Midwest Shrine Association Summer Session or at the Imperial Session and have had much success. In addition to singing, the Chanters have several social events throughout the year, raising money by tending bar and parade several times in the summer.
The Chanters are past Imperial Shrine International Gold Medal Champions as well as consistent Gold Medal winners competing at the Midwest Shrine Association Summer Session competition. The El Riad Chanters won the 2004 international gold medal in chorus competition held July 5, 2004 in Denver, CO. They first achieved this honor during the 2002 International Shrine meeting in Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada and again at the 2003 at Minneapolis, MN Imperial competition. That being the third consecutive year the Chanters had won the top international award, the Chanters’ unprecedented achievement enabled the chorus to permanently retire this international traveling trophy.
You are invited to share in the singing, fun and fellowship. The chanters rehearse on Tuesday evenings and you do not have to be an expert singer to join this unit. If you wish to join or want additional information, contact any of the chanters or the shrine office at 336-1117.
This unit meets each Tuesday at the Shrine for rehearsal from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. for social time.
